Resumen de El futuro de los países de la Carta Adriática en la OTAN

Tras la histórica cumbre de la OTAN en Praga celebrada en 2002, siete de los diez candidatos fueron invitados a formar parte de la Organización.
Los tres países que se quedaron fuera, Albania, Croacia y Macedonia, crearon en 2003 junto con Estados Unidos la Carta Adriática, un nuevo instrumento de apoyo a la integración con el compromiso de una pronta adhesión. El objetivo de este artículo es analizar la situación actual y el futuro de los tres países mencionados tras la cumbre de la OTAN en Riga en noviembre de 2006, donde la invitación para el inicio de las conversaciones de ingreso en la Alianza ha sido de nuevo aplazada.

After the historical NATO Summit in Prague that took place on 2002, seven of ten candidates were invited to be part of the Organization. The three countries left out, Albania, Croatia and Macedonia, together with the United States launched the Adriatic Charter on 2003, a new instrument for supporting the integration with the commitment of a soon membership.
The aim of this paper is to analyze the current situation and the future of the three countries above mentioned, after the NATO Summit in Riga on November 2006, where the invitation to begin membership-accession talks to the Alliance has been postponed once again.
