A firm mint attribution for two Ptolemaic bronze coinages struck during the reign of Ptolemy III Euergetes, either with trident or tripod symbol on the reverse side, could not be made despite various studies on the subject. While early on it was suggested that they were struck in Berytos and Ptolemais Ake, recent studies covering more data clearly point to an Asia Minor origin. However, doubts remained still about the proposed mint sites, Telmessos and Kaunos. Following comprehensive research coverig the Ptolemaic coins from museum collections and coins found in excavations from southwest Asia Minor, the number of specimens for trident and tripod coins has increased greatly. So, based on what this new data let us deduce, this paper aims to review the problematic mint attributions and suggest Patara in Lycia as the minting place for the bronzes with trident symbol on the reverse.
