    Durante algunos años, el principal objeto de estudio de la Geografía fue la división del espacio terrestre. Sin embargo, no nos interesa hacer un análisis histórico del pensamiento geográfico, sino examinar el concepto de región a través de éste.

    For many years the principal objects of study in the field of Geography were divisions of terrestrial space. What interests us, however, without making an analysis of the history of geographical thought per se, is to examine the concept of the region in geographical thought.
