    El presente trabajo tiene como objeto dar cuenta de las narrativas y la transformación del espacio público, ma­nifestado en la pintura mural en la ciudad colombiana de Sogamoso. Para ello nos hemos remitido, como fuen­te de análisis, a un planteamiento teórico e histórico previo, así como al registro fotográfico. Se obtienen así resultados inéditos en el estudio de la ciudad y su relación con la construcción de sus espacios públicos por parte de los colectivos artísticos. De otro lado se afirma lo artístico —aún muy poco reconocido— como una extensión de la realidad misma de la ciudad.  Se concluye cómo la pintura mural, en un laboratorio visual, define de forma preferente el arte urbano, y crea identidad, memoria y un pensamiento de ciudad a través de la participación ciudadana.

    The purpose of this work is to account for the narratives and the transformation of public space, manifes­ted in the mural painting in the Colombian city of Sogamoso. For this we have referred, as a source of ana­lysis, to a previous theoretical and historical approach, as well as to the photographic record. Thus, unprecedented results are obtained in the study of the city and its relationship with the construction of its public spaces by artistic collectives. On the other hand, the artistic aspect —still very little recognized— is affirmed as an extension of the reality of the city itself. It is concluded how mural painting, in a visual laborato­ry, preferably defines urban art, and creates identity, me­mory and a city thought through citizen participation.
