Referencing indigenous knowledge system in Southern Africa and the deconstructive work especially of Jaques Derrida, the author configures the link between ancestral voices and all the other voices that still connect with Mandela to combine the quest for an impossible justice and his universal vocation. The "spirit of Madiba" thus becomes a force that confronts any temptation to give up the fight.

S’appuyant sur les systèmes de savoir indigènes d’Afrique du Sud et l’approche déconstructiviste de Jacques Derrida en particulier, l’auteur interroge ici le lien entre les voix ancestrales et toutes celles qui se relient encore à Nelson Mandela pour mettre en tension la quête d’une justice impossible et sa vocation universelle. L’« esprit de Madiba » devient alors une ressource, un souffle faisant face à tout renoncement.
