Durante mucho tiempo el sur de Tenerife, aun habiendo contribuido al desarrollo y progreso insular con la labor de personajes fundamentales en su devenir histórico, fue, sin embargo, el gran desconocido. Esta realidad se palia, en parte, con la irrupción de actividades, fundamentalmente culturales, más o menos prolongadas en el tiempo, con las que se logra resituar la influencia real de este territorio en el contexto insular. Este artículo solo intenta hacer un repaso de las que, entendemos, han tenido mayor trascendencia.

For a long time the South of Tenerife, even having contributed to the development and progress of the island with the work of fundamental figures in its historical development, was, however, the great unknown. This reality is alleviated, in part, with the emergence of activities, fundamentally cultural, more or less prolonged in time, with which it is possible to relocate the real influence of this territory in the island context. These words only attempt to review those that, we understand, have had the greatest significance.
