    Durante las últimas dos décadas del siglo XX surgió en la crítica un interés por dilucidar las vanguardias latinoamericanas, que se plasmó en numerosos trabajos condensados en pocos años. Ese periodo coincidió con un proceso de modernización de la crítica latinoamericana, ligada al boomde la nueva narrativa, que implicó que por primera vez la literatura latinoamericana se autofigurara como un conjunto unificado. También coincidió con la relectura de la modernidad que produjo el debate sobre la posmodernidad en Europa y Estados Unidos, debate que constituyó el contexto de producción de los estudios teóricos más sistemáticos sobre la vanguardia internacional. Este artículo analiza cómo y en qué condiciones la crítica latinoamericana se aproximó a las vanguardias del continente, pero más que un estado de la cuestión del periodo, pretende dar cuenta de la influencia que tuvieron esos discursos aledaños. El propósito último es plantear, como se hace al final, nuevas preguntas e hipótesis para pensar la especificidad de la vanguardia latinoamericana, como una puerta de entrada a una anhelada teorización.

    During the last two decades of the 20th Century, criticism revealed interest in Latin American avant-gardes, which was reflected in numerous essays condensed in a few years. This period coincided with a modernization process of Latin American criticism, linked to the boom of the new narrative, a phenomenon where Latin American literature conceive itself as a unified symbolic production for the first time. It also coincided with the review of modernity of the modernism-postmodernism debate in Europe and the United States, where the most systematic theoretical studies have emerged on the international avant-garde. This paper analyzes how and under what conditions Latin American criticism approached the Latin-American avant-garde. However, it is not just a state of the art of the period: it aims to elucidate the influence of modernization of criticism and postmodernity discourses. The ultimate purpose is to ask new questions and suggest new hypotheses to think about the specificity of the Latin American avant-garde, as a gateway to a long-awaited theorization.
