La presente investigación analiza el fenómeno del envejecimiento de la población, con énfasis en México, lo cual permite identificar los retos que se plantean en diversos ámbitos. Ante esos retos, una oportunidad interesante que se abre es acerca de la economía plateada, por ello se introduce el término y se identifica su aplicación en el turismo para este grupo de personas. La investigación es eminentemente teórica, realizada mediante una revisión bibliográfica que tiene como objetivo indagar sobre el fenómeno para tener una mayor comprensión del mismo y con ello generar futuras líneas de investigación.

This research analyzes the phenomenon of population aging, with emphasis on Mexico, which allows us to identify the challenges that arise in various areas. Faced with these challenges, an interesting opportunity that opens up is about the silver economy, which is why the term is introduced and its application in tourism for this group of people is identified. The research is eminently theoretical, carried out through a bibliographic review that aims to investigate the phenomenon in order to have a better understanding of it and thereby generate future lines of research.
