  • Resumen
    • The data used in this study are taken from the records of34004 marriages celebratcd from 1800 to 1974 in the parishes of 17 Sardinian villages. Results obtained by Spearman's rank correlation coefficient indicate significant positive correlations berwccn consanguinity and both endogamy and altitude. In addition, endogamy is positively correlated with altitude and negatively correlated with time (number of generations). Marital distance is positively correlated with time¡ when considered as a mean distance of all Sardinian couples with at least one local spouse, it is ncgativcly corrclatcd with consanguinity, endogamy and altitude. In the single parishes, rhe levcls of cndogamy and consanguinity are generally higher in the mountain villagcs than in those situatcd in thc hiii and pfai!ls arcas.
