Resumen de Haciendo Comunidad: Mejoramiento de la Atención Odontológica en las Parroquias de Portoviejo

El proyecto "Haciendo Comunidad" tiene como objetivo promover la atención primaria odontológica, en el ámbito socioeconómico y asociativo de los habitantes de las parroquias rurales del cantón Portoviejo: Pueblo Nuevo, Alhajuela, San Plácido, Crucita, Calderón y Chirijos. Este proyecto se realiza bajo el patrocinio del plan triple AAA, ejecutado por el GAD-Portoviejo, el cual pretende mejorar los sistemas de agua potable y alcantarillado de las parroquias rurales, contribuyendo al objetivo estratégico del Plan Portoviejo 2035. Este estudio es cuantitativo, descriptivo, de corte transversal. Los universitarios aplicaron la ficha 033 del MSP ecuatoriano. La intervención se la realizó en la Escuela Miguel Ángel Fernández y el Colegio Técnico Pueblo Nuevo. La muestra fue de 144 estudiantes. Se determinó que el índice CPO (piezas cariadas, piezas Perdidas y piezas obturadas) fue de 5,2 un rango elevado que refleja un alto índice de caries. Se detectó que las personas objeto de estudio poseen pocos conocimientos de técnicas de cepillado e higiene dental. El diagnóstico resalta la necesidad de iniciar la intervención de odontología básica y charlas de promoción y prevención en salud bucal. Se concluye que se puede mejorar la vida de la gente rural fortaleciendo la salud, la educación y la productividad de una zona fundamental para Portoviejo, capital de Manabí.

The objective of the Maiking community project is to promote primary dental care in the socioeconomic and associative sphere of the inhabitants of the rural parishes of the Portoviejo canton. It is carried out under the auspices of the triple AAA plan, implemented by the Decentralized Autonomous Government of Portoviejo, which aims to improve the drinking water and sewerage systems of these parishes as part of the Portoviejo 2035 Plan. This was a quantitative, descriptive, cross-sectional study. The university students applied form 033 of the Ecuadorian Ministry of Public Health. The intervention was carried out in the Miguel Ángel Fernández school and the Pueblo Nuevo technical school. The sample consisted of 144 students. It was determined that the CPO index (decayed teeth, missing teeth and filled teeth) was 5.2, a high range that reflects a high caries index. It was detected that the people under study have little knowledge of brushing techniques and dental hygiene. The diagnosis highlighted the need to initiate the intervention of basic dentistry and talks on oral health promotion and prevention. It is concluded that the life of rural people can be improved, strengthening health, education and productivity in a fundamental area for Manabí.
