La cultura tiene un rol cada vez más importante en las sociedades, por lo que es necesario medir su aporte económico, que para ser comparable se estima en base a la Cuenta Satélite de Cultura en el marco del Sistema de Cuentas Nacionales. El valor agregado cultural representó el 3,49% del generado por la economía en 2014, similar al producido por los sectores construcción y servicio de intermediación financiera, y más del doble de electricidad, gas y agua y hoteles y restaurantes. Las industrias culturales, ligadas a los cambios tecnológicos, representaron en 2014 el 85,5% del valor agregado, mientras las artes y el patrimonio aportaron el 13% y 1,4%, respectivamente.

Culture plays an increasingly important role in societies, so it is necessary to measure its economic contribution, which, to be comparable, is estimated based on the Satellite Culture Account, within the framework of the System of National Accounts. The cultural added value represented 3.49% of that generated by the economy in 2014, similar to that produced by the construction and financial intermediation service sectors, and more than twice as much electricity, gas and water, and hotels and restaurants. The cultural industries, linked to technological changes, represented 85.5% of the value added in 2014, while the arts and heritage contributed 13% and 1.4%, respectively.
