  • Resumen
    • The present study aimed to conduct a bibliometric analysis of formative assessment in universities between 2004 and 2023. The academic output was examined using bibliometric analysis as the fundamental method in this study. Scopus was used to select 364 papers for the study based on keywords in English (formative AND evaluation AND universities). In terms of percentage increase, the years 2014-2022, with 279 academic papers (76,6 % of the total), had the greatest impact on scientific production. The first country to stand out was Spain (19,7 %) and BMC Medical Education was the most popular publication source (n=13). Of all the authors, López-Pastor, V. was the one who obtained the most citations (65) for his three papers. Of the total number of papers, 99 % were scientific articles, of which 48 % belonged to the social sciences and 10 % to medicine. It can be concluded that formative evaluation in universities has made significant progress in terms of subject variety, authorship, sources and accessible resources. Thus, this bibliometric analysis could serve as a basis for future research.
