    El presente trabajo trata de estudiar el uso de los mitos grecorromanos en la Argentina del siglo xix, centrándose en dos autores singulares por su forma de acercarse a ellos desde perspectivas y estéticas diferentes. El primero, Vicen-te López y Planes, en su obra El triunfo argentino, recurre al mito si guiendo la tradición clasicista caracterizada por el uso de la mitología como resultado de una convención. Por su parte, Olegario V. Andrade, inmerso en la corriente romántica, en su obra Prometeo elige este personaje mitológico por ser un héroe transgresor. A esta circunstancia hay que añadir la particular realidad hispano- americana que lucha por su independencia de España, toda vez que toma como modelo a Francia, sin darse cuenta de que al aceptar su influencia recibe al mismo tiempo un nuevo poder colonizador.

    The aim of this paper is to study the use of Greco-Roman myths in 19th Century Argentina by focusing on two outstanding authors for their way of approaching them from different perspectives and aesthetics. The former, Vicente López y Planes, in his work El triunfo argentino appeals to myth by following the classicist aesthetic characterized by the use of mythology as a convention. The latter, Olegario V. Andrade, immersed in Romanticism in his work Prometeo chooses this mythological character for being a transgressive hero. Besides, we must take into account the particular Spanish-American reality in which people fight for Independence from Spain, since they take France as a model, without realizing that while accepting its influence, they receive at the same time a new colonizing power.
