    La alfabetización digital es la capacidad para usar tecnologías de la información y comunicación de manera efectiva. Permite empoderar a los individuos, a través del acceso a información, servicios, oportunidades educativas y laborales y participación en la sociedad digital. Este estudio investiga la alfabetización digital de los docentes de la Universidad Bernardo O’Higgins en Chile. Se evaluó cómo los profesores manejan herramientas tecnológicas en un entorno transformado por la pandemia de COVID-19. Utilizando una metodología cuantitativa y correlacional, se aplicó una encuesta a 80 docentes para medir su alfabetización digital y habilidades técnicas. Se observó una percepción generalmente positiva de sus capacidades digitales, aunque se identificaron áreas para mejorar, como comprender derechos de propiedad intelectual y resolver problemas técnicos. Además, resalta la fuerte correlación entre la alfabetización digital y el uso competente de herramientas tecnológicas en la práctica docente. Se sugiere implementar un enfoque integral que enseñe habilidades legales, éticas y técnicas.

    Digital literacy is the ability to use information and communication technologies effectively. It empowers individuals through access to information, services, educational and employment opportunities, and participation in the digital society. This study researches the digital literacy of teachers at the Universidad Bernardo O’Higgins in Chile. It measured how teachers manage technological tools in an environment transformed by the COVID-19 pandemic. Using a quantitative and correlational methodology, a survey was applied to 80 teachers to measure their digital literacy and technical skills. A generally positive perception of their digital skills was observed, although areas for improvement were identified, such as understanding intellectual property rights and solving technical problems. It also highlights the strong correlation between digital literacy and the competent use of technological tools in teaching practice. Implementing a comprehensive approach that teaches legal, ethical, and technical skills is suggested.
