Macau is a challenging Chinese city. Undeniably linked to Portuguese culture, it reveals an exponential growth that leads us to reflect on what will be its path in the near future. This transformational process highlights the conflict between the new and the old, the modern and the classic, tradition, and innovation. Our main goal is to reveal that act between scales and to operate between the extreme density of the metropolis, with its high-rise buildings, and going lower into the small urban areas, made from courtyards, patios, and alleyways emerge as a strategy for a critical approach, where architecture is the protagonist of a new city awakening. In this context, the Inner Port Zone of the city, more specifically the area of Pátio da Claridade (Clarity Patio), assumes itself as a space for experimentation. Being a very degraded area, where multiple urban, architectural, and sociological problems are recognizable, it emerges as a priority urban revitalization area. In this context, its rehabilitation could be grounded upon understanding local customs and traditions to enhance solutions that promote and reinvent new urbanities. In a place where the inhabitants are mostly Chinese and believers of Feng Shui’s millennial art, this philosophy becomes unavoidable for formalizing the project, rescuing the essential values in a secular link between the East and the West.
