Resumen de San Pedro bendice el matrimonio de los Reyes Católicos del Maestro de Becerril: estudios técnico, estilístico e iconográfico y contextualización histórica

Nuestro objetivo es dar a conocer una obra inédita del pintor palentino Maestro de Becerril, evidenciandounas características técnicas y estilísticas que permiten situarlo en el foco de pictórico de Palencia, entre los sucesoresde Juan de Flandes y Pedro Berruguete y en la transición desde la pintura hispano-flamenca a la renacentista. Especialinterés reviste su estudio iconográfico dentro de las circunstancias históricas que determinan la alteración del temainicial –una escena de la vida de San Pedro– en pos de un mensaje legitimador de la Monarquía Hispánica.

Our objective is to present an unpublished work of the master painting of Becerril from Palencia, evidencing technical and stylistic characteristics that allow it to be placed in the pictorial focus of Palencia, between the successors of Juan de Flandes and Pedro Berruguete and in the transition from Spanish-Flemish to Renaissance painting. Of particular interest is its iconographic study within the historical circumstances that determine the alteration of the initial theme –a scene from the life of Saint Peter– in pursuit of a legitimizing message of the Hispanic monarchy.
