La postverdad y la historia existencial

    El artículo analiza tres fases definitorias de la historia intelectual moderna que han contribuido a la emergencia del movimiento de la posverdad: la crítica de la razón universal kantiana a partir de Soren Kierkegaard y Miguel de Unamuno; la Lebensphilosophie o filosofía de la vida de Wilhelm Dilthey y José Ortega y Gasset y su énfasis en la afectividad y la perspectiva cognitiva individual como vías epistemológicas legítimas; y la posmodernidad que genera un modo de pensamiento fragmentado y asistemático que es relevante y válido para las situaciones concretas del sujeto individual. El ensayo de George Orwell «Looking Back on the Spanish War», es un documento que contiene observaciones e ideas especialmente perceptivas y útiles en torno a la posición que debe adoptar el escritor para no sacrificar su compromiso con la verdad de los hechos y con una interpretación genuina y fiable de ellos. En el artículo se enuncian y evalúan los cinco rasgos constitutivos de la posverdad y se analizan varios textos de la ficción contemporánea donde se actualiza el concepto de historia existencial como el modo narrativo histórico con el que superar las insuficiencias metodológicas de la historia convencional.

    Study of three defining phases of modern intellectual history that have contributed to the emergence of post-truth: the critique of Kantian universal reason with Soren Kierkegaard and Miguel de Unamuno; Lebensphilosophie o philosophy of life with Wilhelm Dilthey and José Ortega y Gasset and their emphasis on affectivity and the individual cognitive perspective as legitimate epistemological paths; and postmodernity that favors a fragmented and a-systematic thought that is appropriate to the specific situations of the individual subject. George Orwell’s essay, «Looking Back on the Spanish War», contains ideas that are especially perceptive and useful about the position to be adopted by the writer in order not to sacrifice his or her commitment to respect and defend factual truth and its interpretation according to reliable and genuine criteria. The article evaluates the five constitutive traits of post-truth and analyses several texts of contemporary fiction that actualize the concept of existential history as the narrative historical mode with which to overcome the methodological insufficiencies of conventional history.
