The Jordaens Van Dyck Panel Paintings Project has revealed that there are considerably more seventeenth-century copies on panel of the grisailles related to Van Dyck's 'Iconography' than had been realised. Archival and dendrochronological research suggests that many can be traced back to Peter Lely and his circle, and were made in response to demand in London following Van Dyck's death
