La finalidad de este artículo es analizar desde el enfoque de la historia interna y externa cómo cambiaron los valores metodológicos de la etnografía británica de principios del siglo XX. Para ello, en la primera parte se reflexiona porqué es importante hacer una historia del método etnográfico y cómo debería hacerse. Posteriormente, en la segunda parte se hace una revisión de las categorías historia interna e historia externa propuestas por T. Kuhn para hacer historia de la ciencia. Finalmente, en la tercera parte se analiza desde estas categorías la manera en que cambiaron los valores metodológicos de la etnografía británica de principios del siglo XX.

The purpose of this article is to analyze, from the perspective of internal and external history, how the methodological values of British ethnography at the beginning of the 20th century changed. To do this, in the first part it reflects on why it is important to make a history of the ethnographic method and how it should be done. Subsequently, in the second part there is a review of the categories internal history and external history proposed by T. Kuhn to make the history of science. Finally, the third part analyzes from these categories the way in which the methodological values of British ethnography at the beginning of the 20th century changed.
