    El cementerio militar alemán de Cuacos de Yuste, ubicado al norte de Cáceres, es un monumento a los soldados alemanes que murieron en España durante la Primera y la Segunda Guerra Mundial. Este camposanto cuenta con distintas abreviaturas en las cruces de sus tumbas, que proporcionan información sobre las unidades militares y los rangos de los soldados fallecidos. En esta línea, el objetivo de este estudio es presentar un breve marco teórico de este fenómeno lingüístico junto a las abreviaturas y su traducción al español. Desde un punto de vista formal, el trabajo muestra que el alemán distingue más tipos y posee más términos para designar el fenómeno lingüístico indicado. Sin embargo, en ocasiones, resulta un tanto complicado diferenciar entre acrónimos, siglas y otros tipos de abreviaciones, dado que no existe una línea divisoria precisa que delimite la parcela que ocupa cada uno de estos términos.

    The German Military Cemetery in Cuacos de Yuste, located in the north of Cáceres, is a place of remembrance to the German soldiers who died in Spain during the First and Second World War. The cemetery is marked with different abbreviations on the granite crosses, which provide information about the military units and ranks of the deceased soldiers. The aim of this paper is to show a brief theoretical approach to this linguistic phenomenon together with the abbreviations and their translation into Spanish. From the point of view of its structure, the study shows that German distinguishes more types and has more terms to designate this linguistic phenomenon. However, it may sometimes be difficult to distinguish between acronyms or other types of abbreviation, since there is not a clear-cut line to differentiate these terms.
