Throughout this work, we aim at arguing that literature is an enormously useful tool for the development of communicative competence in early childhood education. There are many reasons why these texts help to enhance linguistic competence in young students: their familiar nature that connects the classroom to their daily life, their contextualised and real language connected to a specific culture, their socialisation capacity, etc. All these characteristics make literary texts greatly contribute to the development of communicative competence in children. In this context, ICTs are presented as a great ally to support the reading of stories in the classroom, generating different ways to build and consolidate meaningful learning in a playful and motivating way. Moreover, they diversify the possibilities of sup- port materials and help to focus pedagogical support for the exploitation of literary texts. The exposition of literary texts with the help of digital tools improves several competences of the students, being the communicative one the most outstanding.
