Resumen de Aproximación histórica al aporte de la inspección educativa a la profesionalización docente en Angola, España y Portugal

Louryval Martinho da Glória Capina, Héctor Monarca

  • The theoretical framework of this essay follows the line of research into the teaching profes- sion and its professionalisation. It is articulated with studies on Educational Inspection (EI) and its role in how modern education systems are configured today, focusing in this case specifically on Angola, Spain and Portugal. The essay assumes that the EI is part of the process of institutionalising the field of education and has played a key role in the professionalisation of teaching. The main objective of this work is to present the EI’s institutionalisation process and its contributions to the professionalisation of teaching. Nevertheless, major divergences can be seen with Angola due to the fact that this country has had to inherit a colonial system created to cater to the interests of the metropolis, far from any local idiosyncrasies. The conclusions highlight that EI’s contributions to the professionalisation of teaching have been accompanied by processes of surveillance and control as well as a progressive insistence on bureaucratic tasks, a feature that remains and is often at odds with demands made of the EI regarding advising and accompanying the teaching staff.
