The rational use of medicines implies using drugs in an effective, safe and economical way to achieve the best results in the treatment of patients. It also contributes to improving the effectiveness of treatment, reducing adverse effects and minimizing unnecessary costs. It is essential to consider in each case: What do we prescribe and why, how, for what and to whom. The objective was to know the opinion of our dentists regarding this topic. A documentary study of the basic theoretical aspects was carried out and a simple survey was elaborated with closed questions that allowed us to verify the importance of pharmacological knowledge and obtain criteria in this regard from a group of practicing dentists. The dentists confirmed our suspicions regarding the rational use of medicines and the importance of mastering it for the exercise of their profession.
