Resumen de Systematic review: Types of sealants in dentistry

  • Introduction: Dental caries is one of the most frequent pathologies worldwide, this is one of the main and most relevant of the oral cavity. The WHO states that 60% to 90% of the world's child population have cavities.

    Materials and methods: Bibliographic review of a descriptive, qualitative type, based on the PRISMA method (2020), various inclusion and exclusion criteria were used, jointly, search chains elaborated through MeSH terms and through pages with scientific evidence.

    Results: By using the search strings in several previously mentioned databases, a total of 56 articles are shown that, after their respective analysis, the types of pit and fissure sealants could be analyzed.

    Conclusion: After the evidence analyzed, it is concluded that resin sealants are superior to protect teeth from extrinsic factors and that we must also take into account that when applying them, in order for the result to be favorable, we must carry out previous steps such as prophylaxis and good isolation to avoid its failure
