Resumen de Tuberculous pericarditis: a case report

  • Introduction. Tuberculous pericarditis is an infrequent extrapulmonary manifestation of tuberculosis, has a variable clinical expression and in endemic areas, it usually occurs in elderly patients or patients with underlying immunodeficiency.Objective. To present the case of a patient with dextrocardia, who was ill with pulmonary tuberculosis, developing acute pericarditis and the review of the related literature.Conclusions. Tuberculosis continues to be a major health problem in many countries, causing a series of complications or sequelae in the human body in the short, medium and long term, which can prolong hospital stay and even trigger death. Prevention continues to be a fundamental tool to face this health problem.
