  • Resumen
    • Introduction: High blood pressure (HBP) is one of the most prevalent chronic conditions worldwide, affecting millions of people and constituting a significant risk factor for various cardiovascular diseases, strokes, and kidney diseases. Objective: To describe the essential aspects of high blood pressure and the nursing care process in patients with the pathology in question. Methods: A bibliographic review was carried out using the articles retrieved in the PubMed, MEDLINE, and Scielo databases, in the period between August and September 2024. A total of 15 references were selected, which were specifically tailored to the topic in question, excluding those with possible biases in their methods. Development: The nursing process involves the skills that a nursing professional must possess at the beginning of the process. Possessing these skills contributes to improving the nursing professional's interest in the patient's health, including the patient's level of health or health status. Conclusions: Knowledge about the clinical, diagnostic and pharmacological aspects of arterial hypertension is a vital pillar for the management of this pathology by health personnel. Constant updating of the subject represents the main task of all personnel dedicated to its treatment, especially nursing personnel
