Resumen de Risk factors for chronic kidney disease in older adults

  • Introduction: Chronic Kidney Disease is one of the most prevalent pathologies worldwide, representing the sixth fastest growing cause of death. Objective: to identify the factors associated with Chronic Kidney Disease in the Elderly in clinic 61 of the 1st of January polyclinic of the municipality of Consolación del Sur.Method: an applied, descriptive, cross-sectional research was carried out from January 2022 to December 2023, in the elderly patients of the 61st clinic. The universe was constituted by 245 patients for a sample of 245 patients who fulfilled the inclusion criteria. Results: the predominant age group was 70-79 years for 46.1% and male sex in 60.8% and white skin color with 64.5%.  The most frequent stage of CKD was stage II with 37.1%. The most frequent risk factors were arterial hypertension (76.3%), followed by diabetes mellitus (19.6%).Conclusions: the risk of CKD is higher in those with high blood pressure, diabetes, smoking, proteinuria, and close relatives with kidney disease
