Resumen de Impactos del turismo en Amatlán de Quetzalcóatl: organización comunitaria frente a la turistificación

El crecimiento de negocios turísticos ha generado impactos sobre el medio social y ambiental en Amatlán de Quetzalcóatl. Así, la población indígena ha realizado determinadas acciones para limitar la actividad y prevenir una turistificación como la acontecida en Tepoztlán Pueblo Mágico. Estas acciones consisten en la utilización de instrumentos enmarcados en los usos y costumbres, así como en un repertorio de estrategias heredado de una tradición de lucha por la tierra para negociar los límites de la actividad. De este modo, se han generado acuerdos entre la comunidad y los empresarios para realizar una actividad con menores impactos, que se oriente hacia un turismo más inclusivo y con una mayor presencia en la gestión de la actividad de la población local. En este trabajo se utilizaron las estrategias de la metodología mixta. El objetivo consistió en revelar los mecanismos de la comunidad para limitar el crecimiento del turismo con el fin de generar una actividad más inclusiva y con menores impactos. Se observó que el avance del turismo es progresivo y que en el futuro serán las formas de negociación dentro de la comunidad, las que conduzcan a acuerdos en los cuales se llegue a una actividad más inclusiva y con mayor participación de los pobladores locales, con el fin de generar un turismo con mayores beneficios y menores impactos negativos.

The growth of tourism businesses has generated impacts on the social and environmental environment in Amatlán de Quetzalcóatl. Thus, the indigenous population has carried out certain actions to limit the activity and prevent touristification like what happened in Tepoztlán, Pueblo Mágico. For this, the community has resorted to its forms of organization framed in uses and customs, as well as in the repertoire of strategies inherited from its tradition of struggle for land. In this way, agreements have been generated between the community and businessmen to carry out an activity with lower impacts, which is oriented towards more inclusive tourism and a greater presence in the management of the activity of the local population. In this work, mixed methodology strategies were used, while qualitative (interviews and text analysis) and quantitative (survey) tools were used. The objective was to recognize the strategies of the inhabitants to mitigate the negative effects of tourism and stop the incipient process of touristification. It was observed that the population has been successful in stopping touristification in the town, however, the advance of tourist activities is progressive, so in the future it will be the forms of negotiation between the different actors that lead to tourism that contribute to local development.
