    En este trabajo analizaremos el drama Ricardo II de William Shakespeare a través del inmortal texto de Nicolás Maquiavelo El Príncipe. Con ello se verá que el comportamiento de los personajes de Shakespeare encaja a la perfección con las teorías antropológicas y políticas del pensador italiano: se comportan de forma egoísta, actúan para satisfacer su voluntad de poder, conspiran contra sus competidores para conseguir sus metas, etc. La tesis que aquí defendemos es que esto no es una mera coincidencia, sino algo planeado y estudiado por Shakespeare, ya que sus dramas históricos contienen una filosofía política inspirada en la de Maquiavelo.

    In this work we will analyze William Shakespeare’s drama Richard II through the immortal text of Niccolò Machiavelli The Prince. With this we will see that the behavior of Shakespeare’s characters fits perfectly with the anthropological and political theories of the Italian thinker: they behave selfishly, they act to satisfy their will of power, they conspire against their competitors to achieve their goals, and so on. The thesis we defend here is that this is not a mere coincidence but something planned and studied by Shakespeare, since his historical dramas contain a political philosophy inspired by that of Machiavelli.
