Resumen de La Orden de la Merced y su descalcez, generadoras de hermandades y asociaciones religiosas

Se desea exponer la relevancia que la Orden de la Merced y la Merced Descalza y su carisma han tenido desde los siglos XIII y XVII, respectivamente, como creadoras de hermandades bien letíficas bien penitenciales nacidas en sus conventos o acogidos a ellos en la ciudad de Sevilla. Unas tomaron como titular su advocación mariana, Nuestra Señora de la Merced o Mercedes y otras, nacieron para dar culto a imágenes pasionistas. Las presentamos cronológicamente incluyendo algunos datos históricos y artísticos, especialmente aquellos de temática mercedaria.

This study aims to highlight the significance of the Order of Mercy and the Discalced Order of Mercy and their charism since the 13th and 17th centuries, respectively, as creators of either festive or penitential brotherhoods, both originated in or affiliated with their convents in the city of Seville. Some of these brotherhoods adopted the Marian devotion of Our Lady of Mercy, while others were established to venerate Passion images. We review and present them chronologically, including some historical and artistic data, particularly those related to the Mercedarian theme.
