    La asunción de las responsabilidades y los quehaceres adscritos a la mayordomía del pósito y “Lóndiga” en las ciudades castellanas en el siglo XVIII precisaba, de manera inexorable, de la definición de unos avales, o respaldo financiero, que posibilitaran económicamente tales operaciones inherentes a la logística municipal de granos. Las cuestiones esenciales en este entorno devienen de cuántos eran los “fiadores” o avalistas, cuáles eran sus adscripciones profesionales, qué cantidades arriesgaban cada uno de ellos, y todos en general, y cuántas veces se implicaban en tales menesteres.

    The acknowledgement of the responsibilities and tasks assigned to the stewardship of the pósito and “Lóndiga” in Castilian cities in the 18th century inexorably required the definition of sureties, or financial backing, to financially support such operations inherent to municipal grain logistics. The essential questions in this context arise from the number of bondsmen or guarantors, their professional affiliations, the amounts which all-together and each of them put at risk, and how often they were involved in such matters.
