Resumen de El tema gitano en las colecciones LIJ de las Bibliotecas Públicas españolas

La IFLA proclama que la biblioteca pública debe luchar por crear sociedades justas y equitativas, acercándose a las minorías de su comunidad. En esta labor, los miembros más jóvenes de estos colectivos serán los principales destinatarios con obras de Literatura Infantil y Juvenil (LIJ) que reflejen su cultura. Pero en el caso del colectivo gitano, esta premisa no siempre se ha cumplido. Tomando como punto de partida el trabajo de la Biblioteca Pública con la minoría gitana, el objetivo general de este texto es ver la representación del tema gitano en las colecciones LIJ de las bibliotecas públicas de nuestro país. Los objetivos específicos serán hacer una recopilación de las obras de LIJ españoles con temática gitana existentes y agruparlas según su origen autonómico, considerando exclusivamente las de aquellas autonomías con mayor presencia gitana. A partir de esto, se consultará el Catálogo Colectivo de las Bibliotecas Públicas de España para ver su presencia en las bibliotecas de cada una de estas autonomías. Para lograrlo, se han utilizado dos técnicas de trabajo, una de observación y otra de análisis de datos que han dado lugar a dos tipos de conclusiones, unas de carácter formal y otras de carácter bibliotecario.

IFLA considers that the public library should strive to create just and equitable societies, getting closer to minorities in its community. In this aspect, the youngest members of these groups will be the main target by means of Children’s and Youth Literature books reflecting their culture. But that is not always the case for the Roma collective. Taking as a starting point the work of the Public Library with the Roma minority, the general objective is to see how Roma themes are presented in Children’s and Youth Literature collections of the public libraries of Spain. The specific objectives will be to make a compilation of Children’s and Youth Literature created in Spain and dealing with the Roma theme; then, this research will try to group it according to their autonomic origin, considering exclusively those of autonomic communities with an important Roma population. From this, the Collective Catalogue of Spanish Public Libraries will be consulted to see the presence in the libraries of each autonomous region. To achieve this, two techniques have been used, one of observation and the other of data analysis, which have given rise to two different conclusions, some of a formal nature and others of a library nature
