  RESUMEN Este trabajo fue realizado en las comunas Manglaralto, Montañita, Libertador Bolívar, Cadeate, San Antonio y Río Chico, parroquia Manglaralto, provincia de Santa Elena. El objetivo fue evaluar el estado actual del sistema de distribución de agua potable para la propuesta de acciones de mejora que permitan un funcionamiento adecuado hasta el año 2037. El proceso comprendió la revisión bibliográfíca, catastro, balance de masas (de acuerdo con la Normativa Ecuatoriana) y la toma de acciones de mejora. Los resultados mostraron que el sistema posee problemas de presión, configuración inadecuada, el volumen de los reservorios es inapropiado y el caudal bombeado en los pozos será insuficiente a partir del año 2026. Se concluye que para garantizar un servicio óptimo y confiable, es preciso asegurar la fuente de agua y la infraestructura hídrica.

  ABSTRACT This work was carried out in the Manglaralto, Montañita, Libertador Bolívar, Cadeate, San Antonio and Río Chico communes, Manglaralto parish, Santa Elena province. The objective was to evaluate the current state of the drinking water distribution system for the proposed improvement actions that allow proper operation until the year 2037. The process included the review of the bibliography, cadaster, mass balance (according to Ecuadorian Regulations) and taking improvement actions. The results showed that the system has pressure problems, inadequate configuration, the volume of the reservoirs is inadequate and the flow pumped in the wells will be insufficient from the year 2037. It is concluded that to guarantee an optimal and reliable service, it is necessary to ensure the water source and water infrastructure.
