  A seres of three international symposia were held on Spanish Jewish Interaction, sponsored by the late Howard Gilman, through a special grant to Tel Aviv University. The first was held in 1995, the second at the University of Salamanca in 1996 and the third, at Tel Aviv University in 1997.

  This volume comprises a selection of the papers presented in all three symposia. Most of these papers were rewritten in the light of the lively and enlightening discussion that followed their presentation.
