To applicate theory in practice has always been a controversial topic and it involves sharing values ??and beliefs of the theoretical proposals. There professional positions that report discrepancy of Nursing Theory and only they are academic exercises. The main objective of this study was to identify the factors that determine the use of a theoretical model to guide nursing professional practice in Spain, through a descriptive study that had several objectives developed under the mixed methods. The data sources used were managers of health centers, teachers of theoretical bases, healthcare professionals and nursing students undergraduate and postgraduate (Masters Degree). The significant findings were that the choice of a particular theoretical nursing model for the daily work is linked to subjective, objective and contextual factors. And they can be classified into two groups: intrinsic and extrinsic that are debated in this study.
