  • Resumen
    • The importance of wavelength-division-multiplexing (WDM) optical fiber systems has increased exponentially during the first decade of this century mainly in telecommunication systems.

Simultaneously, the adoption of this appealing technology to the sensor multiplexing systems field, together with optical amplification has opened a new research line with a wide range of practical applications principally in the monitoring of huge or/and smart structures. Because of this, the development and experimental demonstration of some optical active sensor networks has been carried out in this work. The three principal challengers thy pose have been addressed: multipliwing a numbre of optical sensors on a single network while ensuring good signal quality; guareanteeing service continuity in the event of point failure (s) on the network and finally, enabling the possibility of remote sensing. Most of these systems are based on multiwavelength fiber laser configuration which are especially oriented towards photonic sensor multiplexing. For this reason, a thoroughly study of different multiwalength fiber lasers also has an important role in this work.
