  • Resumen
    • This doctoral dissertation provides an indepth analysis of how Mysticism can be used to better understand Conflict Transformation theory and Practice. The dissertatio begins with a comprehensive survey of Mysticism, which leads to a precise description of its relevance to Conflict Transformation. Next the dissertation clearly situates this Conflict Transformation research within the Transrational Approach pioneered by Dr. Wolfgang Dietrich, the UNESCO Chair for Peace Studies at the Uninversity of Innsbruck, Austria.

This dissertation then highlights the key points of the relationship between Mysticism and Conflict Transformation as a prelude to proposing the Peaceful Warrior archetype as a way of expressing the relationship between Confilct Transformation and Mystcicism. A comprehensive discussion of the Peaceful Warrior Archetype is then undertaken through an examination of its archetypal elements. The Compass of the Peaceful Warrior is then offered as a model for working with the Peaceful Warrior archetype in Peace Education and in Applied Peace Work. A case study is then presented to demonstrate the relevence and importance of this model. This dissertation then concludes with a final synthesis of all of the key findings and proposes future lines of reearch.
