    • Title of the thesis is, ``Synthesis and characterization of pseudopeptidic compounds and study of their applications for the development of fluorescence sensors and materials.¿¿ This thesis is divided into 4 chapters.

      The first chapter includes the general introduction, and general objectives of the thesis. In this chapter the general introduction to introduce the topic has been described. Also, the general objectives which were taken into account during this research are explained.

      The second chapter is based on synthesis, characterization, and applications of new synthesized pseudopeptidic compounds containing ionizable group. These pseudopeptidic macrocycles functionalized with ionizable groups were investigated for their applications as fluorescent pH sensors. In Chapter 2, the detailed introduction of the topic is included. Then the objectives and hypothesis are explained in detail. In results and discussion part the results regarding synthesis of pseudopeptidic compounds, and applications of these compounds as pH sensors explained. The experimental part is included to explain the procedures and characterization of the pseudopeptidic compounds. The procedures of sample preparation are also included.

      The Chapter 3 is based on core-shell quantum dots doped organogels based on a self-assembling pseudopeptidic macrocycle and investigated their applications as fluorescent NO sensors. In this chapter the detailed introduction to introduce the topic is included. The objectives and hypothesis is explained in brief. The results and discussion part includes the methodology of preparation of hybrid gels containing quantum dots and macrocyclic compound. The material was characterized using techniques such as UV-visible, steady-state, and time-resolved fluorescence spectroscopies, and microscopic technique transmission electronic microscopy (TEM). The commercial and non-commercial quantum dots were investigated, and characterized their photophysical properties. The commercial quantum dots were investigated for their application as fluorescent nitric oxide sensors. In experimental part the sample preparation and synthesis of quantum dots and pseudopeptidic macrocycle is explained.

      In Chapter 2, and Chapter 3 the brief conclusions are included.

      The chapter 4, which is the last chapter in this thesis, is a brief summary of the thesis in Spanish according to the thesis regulations of the Universidad Jaume I.
