Resumen de Towards assessing information privacy in microblogging online social networks. The ipam framework

Samia Oukemeni

  • Online Social Networks (OSNs) incorporate different forms of interactive communication, including microblogging services, multimedia sharing, business networking, etc. A chain of privacy-related public scandals linked to questionable data handling practices in OSNs has started to increase in the last past years. Thus, an effective and efficient evaluation of the privacy level provided in such services is necessary.

In the present thesis, we take the first steps towards developing an information privacy assessment framework (IPAM framework) to compute privacy scores in Online Social Networks, and more specifically microblogging OSNs. The aim of the proposed framework is to help users identify risks related to their data and how their privacy is protected when using an OSN compared to others. The IPAM framework allows also comparing the privacy protection level between different systems, so that system providers can have an idea of how they are positioned in the market vis-à-vis their competition and they can implement the recommendations provided to enhance their services.
