  El equipaje ha sido uno de los aspectos del viaje más descuidados por los investigadores e investigadoras, a pesar de su importancia, no solo por el servicio que presta a los viajeros y a las viajeras durante sus desplazamientos, sino también por ser una de las industrias más destacadas en la actualidad. De manera que, para salvar esta situación, y contribuir a ampliar la historia del viaje y la del equipaje, se ha llevado a cabo este trabajo de investigación abordando la impedimenta desde su representación plástica en época contemporánea. Para esto, se ha creado una extensa base de datos, de la que se han seleccionado 209 piezas artísticas que han sido, a su vez, clasificadas y analizadas utilizando una metodología variada conformada, fundamentalmente, por el método sociológico, el método formalista, el método iconográfico-iconológico, y el método histórico, que no solo han permitido afrontar la complejidad de las obras, sino también evidenciar la íntima relación entre el equipaje y el viaje, además del valor de estas manifestaciones artísticas como documento histórico.

  The luggage has been one of the travel aspects most neglected by researchers, despite its importance, not only because of the service it provides to travellers during their journeys, but also because it¿s one of the most important industries today. In order to save this situation, and to contribute to expanding the history of travel and luggage, this research work has been carried out by approaching the impedimenta from its plastic representation in contemporary times. For this, an extensive database has been created, from which 209 art works have been selected that have in turn been classified and analysed using a varied methodology made up, fundamentally, by the sociological method, the formalist method, the iconographic-iconological method and the historical method, which have not only made it possible to tackle the complexity of the works, but also in order to prove the intimate relationship between luggage and travel, as well as the value of these artistic manifestations as a historical document.
