La influencia de los textos bíblicos en la literatura universal ha sido constante objeto de estudio a lo largo de los siglos. El propósito de este trabajo de investigación es rastrear dicha influencia en la obra poética del escritor chileno Raúl Zurita. Para entender mejor la obra de Zurita hay que investigar a fondo la época moderna y, especialmente, el período de la dictadura en Chile. La historia y la política de dicho período (1973-1990) desempeñan un papel esencial en la formación de la sociedad chilena y, consecuentemente, en su expresión artística. El objetivo principal de esta investigación consiste en detectar las posibles alusiones, citas o referencias bíblicas, tanto del Antiguo, como del Nuevo Testamento, en la obra de Zurita, ofreciendo una detallada ejemplificación e información que apoye nuestro argumento principal. Zurita emplea la Biblia como fuente y sustrato para componer su obra lírica: las historias que ésta contiene van siempre acompañadas por una funcionalidad político-social que está estrechamente ligada al golpe de estado y la dictadura militar (1973-1990) del General Augusto Pinochet (1915-2006); y ahí yace el objetivo secundario de nuestra investigación, o sea, encontrar los nexos y los símbolos que relacionan las referencias bíblicas con el presente dictatorial. Zurita, en su fructífera producción de poemarios, utiliza la Biblia como hipotexto en muchas ocasiones.

The influence of biblical texts in universal literature has been a constant object of study throughout the centuries. The purpose of this research work is to trace this influence in the poetic work of the Chilean writer Raúl Zurita. To better understand Zurita's work, it is necessary to investigate in depth the modern era and, especially, the period of the dictatorship in Chile. The history and politics of that period (1973-1990) play an essential role in the formation of Chilean society and, consequently, in its artistic expression. The main objective of this research is to detect possible allusions, quotes or biblical references, both from the Old and New Testaments, in Zurita's work, offering detailed examples and information that support our main argument. Zurita uses the Bible as a source and substrate to compose his lyrical work: the stories it contains are always accompanied by a political-social functionality that is closely linked to the coup d'état and the military dictatorship (1973-1990) of General Augusto Pinochet ( 1915-2006); and therein lies the secondary objective of our research, that is, to find the links and symbols that relate the biblical references to the dictatorial present. Zurita, in his fruitful production of poems, uses the Bible as a hypotext on many occasions.
