Resumen de De gremios a pósitos: asociaciones de pescadores en el cantábrico (1864-1919)

Este trabajo investiga la situación de los pescadores artesanales de Asturias, Cantabria y el País Vasco y sus asociaciones durante el último tercio del siglo XIX y las primeras dos décadas del siglo XX, esto es, tras la disolución oficial de los gremios de mareantes en 1864 y previamente a la difusión de los pósitos de pescadores a partir de 1919. Se estudia la composición, organigrama y funciones de las asociaciones, así como la evolución económica del sector y aspectos socioculturales de las comunidades de pescadores. Se aborda el impacto y las consecuencias de la modernización y de las innovaciones técnicas en la pesca. Destacan las estrategias adoptadas para la defensa de los intereses, así como los conflictos de naturaleza sociolaboral que se produjeron en el seno de la flota pesquera tradicional. Se tratan aspectos legislativos y las diversas iniciativas de corte regeneracionista realizadas sobre el colectivo.

This thesis investigates the situation of artisanal fishermen in Asturias, Cantabria and the Basque Country and their associations during the last third of the 19th century and the first two decades of the 20th century. This is, between the official dissolution of the fishermen guilds in 1864 and the dissemination of the "pósitos de Pescadores" since 1919. The study covers the composition, organizational structure, and functions of associations, as well as the economic development of the sector and the socio-cultural issues of fishing communities. The impact and consequences of modernization and technical innovations in fisheries are discussed. The strategies used to safeguard interests are highlighted, along with the social and labor disputes that arose in the traditional fishing fleet. Legislative aspects and the various regenerationist initiatives carried out in the collective are discussed.
