The Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) is very difficult to translate into Spanish because its medicinal concept and system of officials come from the ancient Chinese civilisation and there is no way of approaching or understanding TCM without finding the equivalent concepts and definitions in the Spanish language. This paper will use terminological data, TCM texts and corpora extracted from standard Chinese, Spanish and English dictionaries to analyse and reflect on the quality and criteria of the Chinese to Spanish translation of TCM and its corresponding terminologies, as well as the proposal for the creation of a Chinese terminology base of TCM for Spanish machine translation. The overall aim of the research is to analyse the translation of TCM terminology through studies of the data and corpus of Chinese-Spanish TCM and the research done to provide methodologies for qualitative translation of TCM terms, complement and extend the theories of specialised translation of TCM terminology.
