  • S'ha dit freqüentment que l'Església ha jugat un paper fonamental en l'educació a l'Espanya contemporània; però pocs han sigut els estudis que s'hi han dedicat amb exhaustivitat, intentant estudiar la seva influència amb una anàlisi des de la base. Amb un esforç de síntesi i compilació de dades, la Tesi sistematitza i estudia tota l'activitat educativa de l'Església en el cas concret de la ciutat de Barcelona des del segle XVI fins l'actualitat.

    La Tesi proposa una aproximació als centres educatius religiosos de Barcelona des d'una perspectiva àmplia, considerant no només les escoles i els collegis, sinó també els tallers, les sales d'asil, els orfanats, els hospitals infantils, els correccionals i les activitats educatives d'alguns monestirs.

    Lobra realitza un inventari de tots els centres d'ensenyament de l'Església a Barcelona, classificant-los en primer lloc pel gènere de la comunitat que regentava l'establiment educatiu -escoles de comunitats masculines i escoles de comunitats femenines-, i en segon lloc per barris. Així, s'obté una radiografia tant de les congregacions que es dedicaven a l'educació, com de la geografia local de l'ensenyament religiós.

    A més a més, la Tesi acaba amb una completa bibliografía i un Apèndix Estadístic complementari que sintetitza els materials treballats a la Tesi, classificant-los segons comunitats religioses, barris i ordre cronològic fundacional. Tot això complementat amb una visió dàmbit estatal en leducació i també en altres camps dacció, per illustrar a grans trets el cas de Barcelona dins el conjunt de lEstat.

    D'aquesta manera, a més d'explicar la importància de l'Església com a institució educativa durant tota l'Edat Moderna i Contemporània, s'aporta un llistat exhaustiu de centres educatius religiosos que exemplifica aquest paper clau a Barcelona des del segle XVI fins els nostres dies.

    " SUMMARY:

    One has said frequently that the Catholic Church played a fundamental educational role in the education in the contemporary Spain; but few exhaustive studies have been dedicated, and trying to study its influence with a analysis from the base. With a effort of synthesis and compilation of information, the Thesis systematizes and studies all the educative activity of the church in the case of Barcelona from XVI century to the present time.

    The Thesis proposes an approach to the Catholic Church educational centers of Barcelona from a broad perspective, It does not only includes the schools and the colleges, but also the asylums, the orphanages, the infantile hospitals, the correctionals, and the educative activities of some monasteries.

    The work makes an inventory of all the education houses of the Catholic Church in Barcelona, classifying them in masculine and feminine communities, and secondly It classifies them in the city districts. Thus, we obtain a perspective as much of the communities dedicated to these tasks, like of the local geography of religious education.

    In addition, the Thesis ends with a complete bibliography and a complementary Statistical Appendix that synthesizes the materials worked, classifying them according to religious communities, districts, and chronologic order of foundation. Everything is complemented with a vision of Spanish scope in the education and also in other Catholic Church influence areas, in order in broaden strokes to illustrate the case of Barcelona in the set of the state.

    This way, besides explaining the importance of the Catholic Church like educational institution during all the Modern and Contemporary age, the Thesis presents an exhaustive listing of Catholic Church educative centers that exemplifies this one key paper in Barcelona from XVI century to the present time.
