  • The visual system is an excellent paradigm to study basic mechanism of developmental neurobiology. This thesis addresses the role fo two different proteins, Boc and Sfrp1, in the specification and axon outgrowth of the mouse retina ganglion cells in mouse. The first part of the thesis investigates how Boc, a molecule that binds Shh, contributes to the specification of a specific subpopulation of RGC. The second part investigates the contribution of axon fasciculation and defasciculation to the overall formation of the visual pathways. Both topics are noval and of interest in the field.
