  • Resumen
    • This thesis approach the improvement of the sound insulation action in façade buildings with the barrier protection against to exterior airborne noise focuses specifically in the research of the acoustic performance of the Lightweight Ventilated Façade (LVF) with exterior cladding. The (LVF) is now days commonly used in new building and renovation building. The second issue has an important place in Spain and other Euro Zone countries because mostly of the old buildings in twentieth century built specially before the 70s need certain renovation in the exterior walls to aesthetical reasons and get better insulation and accomplish the new requirements of low consumption. In Spain the valid regulation "Código Técnico de la Edificación" (CTE) does not recognize the exterior cladding with air cavity as a suitable solution to increase the airborne sound insulation in a pre-existing façade due to the open characteristics of the air cavity. However there are different evidences about it is applying an exterior cladding with air cavity, can improve the overall airborne sound insulation in a façade respect to a pre-existence wide and heavy wall, depending the variation at the opening ventilated surface of the air cavity in the (LVF). For this has applied analytic simulation methods, laboratory and in situ testing in a real pre-existence façade wall and other different enclosing walls to see the change of the sound reduction behavior in double walls when is varying the ventilation by slits: Varying its opening surface, the position in a (LVF) and its direction. This work hopes to contribute in the further regulation development about the airborne sound insulation façade improvement using the (LVF) in renovation buildings.
