  • Resumen
    • The current article presents a brief approach to Amado Alonso's studies on Spanish in America. Among other aspects, it is worth noticing the variety of topics (fonetics, dialectology, lexis, etc.) he was interested in and his direct contribution to the American academic environment. We also take into account the way Amado Alonso, without breaking the links with Menéndez Pidal's philological orientation, adopted a clearly linguistic researching interest. Besides, we have to notice his relationship with the works of former Hispanoamerican authors (abover all, Bello and Cuervo), and the strong influence he developed. All this makes possible that, despite the dictatorship of time, his studies on American Spanish follow on being of a great interest.
