  • Resumen
    • The main purpose of this paper is to analyse the connection between the general Latin aspects of some didactic documents of the postalphonsine period and the translation mechanisms from Latin into medieval Castilian. Following Margherita Morreale's suggestions, we examine lexical parallelism as an expression of the intercrossed linguistic systems, covering, from the translation's perspective, a significant optional variety, from plain error to the organised search of a specific functional status in the Castilian domain. We try to point out that the simultaneous occurrence of the inherited and transliterated forms reflects not only the pressure of the formal Latin model, but also, primarily, a tendency to preserve the register characteristics of the Latin original. A new type of creative attitude emerges as a conclusion to the study of lexical variants during this period, different from Alphonse X's normative aims as well as from the exclusive Latin like lexical solutions adopted by the humanistic authors of the XV-th century.
