  El presente artículo analiza la inserción educativa postsecundaria a partir de un estudio longitudinal (seguimiento de 5 semestres) con una muestra representativa de las principales regiones del país. En un primer momento, presenta antecedentes sobre estudios de inserción para, posteriormente, entregar los resultados correspondientes al caso chileno. Analiza la importancia atribuida a las variables éxito académico, dependencia administrativa, educación del padre, educación de la madre, ocupación del padre y ocupación de la madre en la calidad de la inserción y en los montos de sacrificio social. Provisoriamente concluye señalando la importancia de las variables estructurales en los itinerarios de inserción dejando, sin embargo, explícitamente indicado que dichas variables dejan un espacio considerable a las estrategias de naturaleza individual. De este modo, resalta la importancia de la educación materna y del esfuerzo en el logro de un buen rendimiento académico.

  The current article analyzes the post secondary educational insertion as of a longitudinal research (following of 5 semesters) with a representative sample of the main regions of the country. At first, it presents records about insertion researches to give later, on the corresponding results to the Chilean affair. It analyzes the importance given to the following variables such as academic accomplishment, administrative dependence, father¿s occupation, mother¿s occupation in the quality of insertion and in the amount of social sacrifice. Temporaly it concludes pointing out the importance of the structural variables in the insertion itineraries stating, nevertheless, that such variables leave a considerable area to the strategies of individual nature. In this way, the importance of mother education and the effort in the achievement of a good academic performance are stood out.
