  • Resumen
    • This paper summarises a research on the process of acquisition of communicative competence in Catalan on the part of 48 Moroccan pupils ranging from the third year of Primary Education to the fourth year of Secondary Education in the region of Palafrugell (Girona, Catalonia). The pupils were interviewed to obtain some data about their family and themselves and afterwards, they were asked to do a series of speaking, reading and writing tasks. The research results, which describe aspects of the linguistic system and the communicative skills in Catalan acquired by pupils according to the time they were attending school since their arrival to Catalonia, show the need for a deeper and longer attention to the learning of the target language and also to the application of communicative approaches for teaching languages.
